Welcome to www.endoscopyatlas.com.  We hope to provide a means of viewing interesting endoscopy cases, with a chance to comment, offer suggestions and advice on the techniques involved.  We aim for this to be of interest particularly to advanced trainees, but also those more experienced who may be able to offer advice.  Given the widespread digital recording of endoscopy cases by many, I hope this site provides a common ground to view and discuss interesting cases.

Digital recording of endoscopy is very simple, cheap and easy to operate provided you have a computer in the endoscopy room with the processor/monitor.  This computer does not need to be flash but just has to have USB 2.0 ports to connect a video recording system.

Free software to record and preview:  http://www.plextor.com/ENGLISH/support/downloads/PlextorGoCap.exe (only works with above recorder)

A simple/cheap USB 2.0 recorder such as this (the one I use) can be easily connected from the S-video out plug on the back of the monitor (provided S-video is the connector used) to this device.

It then plugs into the computer(USB) and the device does all the converting formats to DVD format Mpeg2, and then the free software below saves and previews on the computer screen (great for an extra screen so bosses can sit and watch) to the hard drive as you record.

Once recorded the files can be renamed and then copied to CD/USB etc.
